The church original started as the Spring Road Gospel Mission in 1913 and a building erected on the site by the members in 1914.
A new pipe organ was installed in 1935 but in 1940 the building became a casualty of the bombing raids during the second world war and was totally destroyed.
The building was rebuilt in October 1953.
Soon after the new building was dedicated the church changed it’s name to Spring Road Evangelical Church. The name it still retains.
The church called it’s first full time Pastor, David Fountain in 1955.
The current church is pastored by Mark Stocker and as of 3rd January 2026 has 64 members of various ages.
