What Confession of Faith, if any, do you follow as a church?
Though we believe that Scripture is our supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct, we happily adhere to the teaching of the 1689 Baptist Confession of Faith and often refer to it in our constitution, teaching and preaching.
Do you believe in the Doctrines of Grace?
We hold to the Doctrines of Grace, which teach Total Depravity (or Total Inability), Unconditional Election, Limited Atonement (or Particular Redemption), Irresistible Grace and the Perseverance of the Saints.
We agree with CH Spurgeon who said: “We believe in the five great points commonly known as Calvinistic; but we do not regard these five points as being barbed shafts which we are to thrust between the ribs of our fellow Christians. We look upon them as being five great lamps which help to irradiate the cross; or, rather, five bright emanations springing from the glorious covenant of our Triune God, and illustrating the great doctrine of Jesus crucified.”
We see these as no hindrance to our earnest evangelism. We believe these doctrines compel our taking out of the gospel all the more, as the Scriptures reveal to us a God who is determined and able to save.
